You’re a coach, or other professional in the helping professions. Ever wonder who it really is that’s sitting in front of you in session? Ever wonder why it is that so many of our clients seem to feel something’s… missing… in life?
Founded by Italian psychiatrist Roberto Assagioli, M.D. in the mid-1900s, Psychosynthesis, a transpersonal psychology, brings some valuable insights into the coaching conversation.
“Transpersonal” is defined as “denoting, or dealing with states or areas of consciousness beyond the limits of personal identity”. Considering the variety of masks we all wear as we go through the day, this begs the question of “what” or “who” is the “identity”.
The Psychosynthesis Life Coach has the understanding and the tools to go beyond the presenting issue brought by the client and to help the client understand “who” is presenting the issue. The result is a life-changing experience, as the client wakens to the realization that, aside from being a partner, soccer mom, father, good daughter, rebel, executive, entrepreneur, manager, etc. they are a center of pure awareness and will- a “self”. In fact, this process is called “self-realization”, and the cornerstone of Psychosynthesis is that our self has the ability and the will to both discover and to follow our life’s calling: our “Call of Self”. Which doesn’t necessarily mean go off to the South Seas or sit on a mountaintop: it means be Who We Truly Are in our completely unique journey through life, realizing our highest potential.
Developed by Dr. Dorothy Firman of The Synthesis Center (Amherst, MA), and tested and proven for more than three decades, “The Will to Grow: Transformational Life Coaching” is now available from Synthesis Coaching Associates in affiliation with The Synthesis Center as an ICF-accredited 160-hour ACSTH Psychosynthesis Coach training program. Structured in two levels of 60 hours each, the remaining 40 hours consist of co-coaching and coaching supervision.
Level 1 introduces participants to the principles, tools, and methodologies of Psychosynthesis as applied to coaching, and students will begin co-coaching with focus on specific techniques in the context of the 11 Core Competencies, earning 60 CCE credits on completion of Level 1.
Level 2 takes the level 1 group to the next level, honing their skills as coaches with emphasis on integration of Psychosynthesis methodologies with the 11 Core Competencies. Level 2 is also open to students with prior training in Psychosynthesis. These will receive 60 CCE credits and a certificate of participation, but full certification as Psychosynthesis Life Coach (PLC) requires both Level 1 and Level 2 training. Students graduating as PLC will be awarded 120 CCE credits.
