Event Start Date: Wednesday, October 24, 2018 – 8:00 AM

Event End Date: Monday, January 13, 2020 – 10:00 PM

Event Description:

Certificate in Happiness Studies (CIHS)

The Certificate in Happiness Studies (CIHS) is a year-long online program that comprises two courses:
1. Introduction to Happiness Studies
2. Facilitating Happiness

The first course spans 26 weeks and includes 26 lectures and 13 webinars; the second also lasts 26 weeks and includes 14 lectures and 12 webinars. Lectures are pre-recorded so you can watch them at your convenience. Webinars are live, an opportunity for you to ask questions, but they are recorded so if you cannot attend the live event, you can always watch it later. Lectures and webinars are an hour long and are led entirely by Dr. Tal Ben-Shahar.

Each week you will receive some homework—or homeplay as we like to call it—including guided meditations, visualization exercises, journaling activities, and more. The activities are designed to increase retention and assimilation of material, and most importantly, to help you become healthier and happier.

You should be prepared to invest at least three hours a week on all the tasks—including watching the lectures, participating in the webinars, and doing your homeplay.

The mission of the Happiness Studies Academy is to lead the happiness revolution, by educating leaders who are themselves dedicated to personal, interpersonal, and communal flourishing.

To realize our mission, we at HSA take a wholistic, interdisciplinary approach to teaching happiness—first in the way we define happiness, and second in the way we teach it. We define happiness as the experience of wholeperson wellbeing, or in short, the experience of wholebeing. The five elements essential to a life of wholebeing are:

Spiritual
Physical
Intellectual
Relational
Emotional

Taken together, these elements make up the acronym SPIRE, and indeed they inspire all of our programs—from our introductory lectures on happiness to the one-year Certificate in Happiness Studies.

To better understand, pursue, and attain wholebeing, it is not enough to explore each of the SPIRE elements through the lens of a single field—be it psychology or philosophy. Instead, we need to take an interdisciplinary approach, turn to psychology and philosophy, as well as to literature, history, economics, theology, biology and other disciplines. This interdisciplinary approach is aligned with our general wholistic approach—one that bridges rather than divides, unites rather than separates. We bridge and unite between:

Theory and practice
Reflection and action
Common sense and complexity
Ancient wisdom and modern research
The humanistic and the scientific
East and West
The rich content coupled with the unique way in which the content is taught, informs about the meaning and significance of happiness, as well as transforms and creates a better world.

PRINCIPI
• Incontro introduttivo gratuito al Laboratorio
• Primo principio: “Vivere il presente”
• Secondo principio: “Aprirsi all’abbondanza e alla gratitudine”
• Quarto principio: “Onorare i propri valori e i propri talenti”
• Quinto principio + Sesto principio: “Osservare la propria mente” + “Scegliere i giusti nutrimenti”
• Settimo principio: “Assumere la giusta prospettiva”
• Ottavo principio: “Aprirsi al cambiamento”
• Nono principio: “Perseguire la propria libertà interiore”
• Decimo principio: “Volgersi all’interdipendenza”
• Ultimo incontro. Ricerche sociali e psicologiche sulla Felicità. Chiusura laboratorio, Bilancio degli apprendimenti. Feedback

Coaching in today’s globally interconnected world requires more than a high IQ or EQ (Emotional Intelligence). It also requires a high CQ: Cultural Intelligence Quotient. Whether it’s in relating to your clients personally or raising their awareness and sensitivity to cultural issues, your understanding of cross-cultural communication is fundamental to coaching success. Increase your competence in this core area of knowledge with this advanced continuing coach education course from The Elevar Group.

Cross-cultural communication is now a required course in many bachelors and masters programs internationally. Coaching schools are bound to follow. This course puts resource materials from the textbook In Mixed Company – Communication in Small Groups and Teams by J. Dan Rothwell (used with permission from Cengage Learning), and other trusted sources, into a practical coaching context. Class discussions, exercises, and homework focus on learning to use key skills with flexibility and proper knowledge of appropriateness for a given context. Recognizing unique perspectives brought about by diverse cultures and how that shapes individual perceptions and influences social norms is essential in mastering the ICF core competencies of:

establishing trust and intimacy
co-creating the relationship
direct communication
creating awareness
designing action
planning and goal setting
managing progress and accountability

Join The Elevar Group and your fellow credentialed coaches for a unique in depth discussion of this ever-evolving subject. You’re only as good as the company you keep!

In the increasingly online connected world we live in, many people are having trouble connecting to others in person. Social media allows you to connect and keep in touch with many people but what about in person, one on one connections that are necessary in business, family relationships, professional networking, job changes and personal relationships- including friendships? Telecommuters as well as people working in offices together, teenagers, adults and seniors all experience moments of loneliness, isolation and feelings of inadequacy often fueled by misconception. An individual’s perception is reality, unless they take control of the feelings and drive to the result they are longing for.

Generating and growing truly committed relationships that are mutually beneficial takes time and effort. Beyond avoiding FOMO, structuring actions that creatively achieves desired results in the ideal timeframe is challenging for many people. The perception that someone else is happier, more successful, better liked by the boss, more popular at school, etc. are all states of emotions clients can pull into focus and determine what courses of action are appropriate for them to feel and be their best selves. Not to mention what other people need from them in order to feel connected as well – there’s a give back component to these feelings that is often overlooked.

In this 6 CCE core competency course we examine vulnerability, transparency, and authenticity as it relates to healthy and stable relationship building.
Within this course we cover the following core competencies: Establishing Trust and Intimacy, Coaching Presence, Active Listening, Powerful Questioning, Direct Communication, Creating Awareness, Designing Actions, Planning & Goal Setting, Managing Progress and Accountability. Each module builds upon the previous and requires each person to personally ask and answer questions for active learning and application of the materials with their clients and themselves.

Improve your mastery of the ICF Core Competencies:

Meeting Ethical Guidelines and Professional Standards—
Establishing the Coaching Agreement—
Establishing Trust and Intimacy with the Client—
Coaching Presence—
Active Listening—
Powerful Questioning—
Direct Communication—
Creating Awareness—
Designing Actions—
Planning and Goal Setting—
Managing Progress and Accountability—

Cancellation Policy

We understand that sometimes circumstances mean you need to transfer or cancel your registration. We try to be as flexible as possible when this happens. Requests to transfer your registration to another scheduled course must be made via e-mail no later than 15 business days before the program start date. You may transfer into another course, in the same format (i.e online or in-person) that will be held within the following 6 calendar months. If you are unable to attend the program to which you transfer, you may send a replacement. If you are unable to send a replacement, you forfeit your registration fee.

Confirmed registrants may cancel and receive a full refund minus a $250 CAD administrative fee up to 10 business days before the course start date. If you find that you are unable to attend and it is less than 10 business days before the program start date, you may send a replacement to attend in your place. If you are unable to send a replacement, you forfeit your registration fee. If you wish you can be placed on a ‘standby’ list that will allow you to attend a future course if there is a space available after ticket sales for that course have closed.
