PCC Cohort 2020 Program

The PCC Cohort will complete the Certified Professional Coach, the Certified Master Coach, the Certified Coach Specialist, the Coaching Experience, and the Mentor Coaching Programs during 2020.

Per the International Coach Federation, ICF, becoming a PCC credentialed coach with involves the following:
• 125 hours of coach training
• 500 hours of coaching experience of which 450 or more hours must be paid
• 10 hours of Mentor Coaching
• Submitting two recorded coaching sessions that pass PCC Assessors evaluation for competency
• Taking and passing the Coach Knowledge Assessment, CKA, exam
• Live participation is required in all ICF-approved programs.
Certified Professional Coach

This program is designed to develop the Core Competencies of a coach plus provide a model, coaching processes, and tools for you to start coaching.

There are five live, interactive, online classes and a group session:
1. About Coaching: What a Coach Is Not, What a Coach Is, How to Excel as a Coach with the Core Competencies
2. Ethics: What the specifics of the Code of Ethics means for you, scenarios and what to do, and ethical accountability
3. Understanding Your Client: A tool for recognizing how your client is thinking and interacting combined with tips to adjust
4. Communication: Techniques for fully engaging through listening, clear, direct language, and asking powerful questions
5. Focus and Motivation: Tools for recognizing language patterns and thought patterns to create a shift for a positive forward focus
6. Group Session: Q&A, model and process overview, and explore resources
After each of the first five online classes, you will have an assignment to either research and reflect or to practice specific people and communication techniques, then write a two-page report. Expect to invest at least 90 minutes in each of your reports.

For the Coaching Practicum you will Coach, Be Coached, and Observe Coaching during each of the following: Introductory Coaching Session, Opening Coaching Session, Second, Third, Fourth, and Fifth Coaching Sessions. After the opening session you will have a homework assignment in preparation for your second coaching session – expect 3 hours to complete it.
Because the coaching practicum involves you being matched with classmates to coach, be coached, and observe coaching full participation in all times scheduled is required.

Case Study: Fill in a table outlining the coaching process from the initial conversation through challenges.

• Use listening, assertive communication, and questioning techniques
• Recognize and adjust to V-A-K styles, Meta Models, and Meta Programs

One-on-One Coaching Session: Schedule your one-on-one coaching session individually to plan getting started with your coaching hours. To support you engaging coaching clients and completing the required coaching hours, we also provide information and resources on business and marketing plus offer a free Q&A call each month.

Certified Master Coach
Designed to expand your knowledge and application of the Core Competencies of a coach, prepare for the Coach Knowledge Assessment, and add tools and techniques for your coaching. There are six live, interactive online classes and a debrief class. Before each class you will write a one-page report responding to three questions.

1. Group or Team Coaching: Explore considerations for coaching groups or teams and prepare for your group coaching
2. Ethics and Agreements: Review the don’ts and the do’s for competencies 1 and 2, then explore application
3. Coaching Process: Discuss the don’ts and do’s for the competencies, then expand with the how to tips for a coach
4. People and Communication: Consider the don’ts and do’s for competencies, then confer on how to effectively use the techniques when coaching
5. Creating Change with Confidence: Go through the don’ts and do’s of the competencies, then delve into application when coaching
6. Time and Money: Review tools and basic concepts plus talk about coaching on sensitive topics with specific examples for time and money coaching
7. Debrief: Chat about learning points and plan for your next steps as a coach
After each class you will write a one-page report responding to three questions.

For the Coaching Practicum you will interview and be interviewed for coaching, Coach, Be Coached, Observe Coaching for three individual sessions each, and Coach the group plus be in the coaching group for six group coaching sessions.

Final Report: Write a two-page report about your coaching with a client over viewing your approach, results, and what you learned.
One-on-One Coaching Session: Schedule your one-on-one coaching session individually to review your progress with your coaching experience and strategize your efforts.

• Differentiate between Group Coaching, Team Coaching, Facilitation, and Training.
• Plan for and coach a group session.
• Fully describe a coaching agreement and the Code of Ethics.
• Identify the do’s and the don’ts for meeting ethical guidelines and establishing the coaching agreement.
• Illustrate and describe coaching process.
• Recognize and apply the do’s and don’ts for establishing trust and coaching presence.
• Practice and demonstrate active listening, powerful questioning, and direct communication.
• Practice and demonstrate creating awareness, designing actions, planning and goal setting, and managing progress and accountability.
• Explore sensitive topics and demonstrate openness to discuss in coaching sessions.
• Identify areas for additional research to enhance coaching services.
• Plan for and coach in keeping with the Code of Ethics and Core Competencies.

Certified Coach Specialist
Choose your focus and Designation: Certified Business, Career, Executive, Life, or Wellness Coach Specialist.

Designed to deepen your skills with the competencies of coaching for PCC credentialing, this program includes discussion and specific examples of how the competencies are used and the PCC markers are demonstrated in coaching. Six live, interactive online classes and a practicum debrief:
1. Coach Competencies and Strengths: Review the Core Competencies of a Coach and discuss the Strength Areas (a self-evaluation based on your area of focus is provided) for a Coach Specialist; define the type of coaching and the specialist coach; clarify roles
2. Engaging and Understanding Your Clients: Discuss approaches and examples for setting the foundation based on the competencies and the PCC Markers including establishing the agreement for the coaching session, establishing expectations, exploring the meaning for clients, determining the measurement of success, refining considerations, and creating quick wins. This will be different for each area of focus.
3. The Coaching Relationship: Explore how to co-create the relationship based on the competencies and the PCC Markers including different processes and plans, giving and earning trust, supporting and empowering the client, being fully aware and responsive, and expanding thinking while fully supporting the client in discussion and with examples. This will be different for each area of focus.
4. Client Priority Management: Analyze how your communication enhances your coaching based on the competencies and the PCC Markers, review examples for flexing to a client’s language and expressions, evaluate how to be responsive, formulate powerful questions, and integrate clear, direct language for coaching through class discussion and examples. This will be different for each area of focus.
5. The Client’s Future: Expand how you create awareness through exploration of examples for asking about insights, developing strategies and plans, defining client application, recognizing progress, and closing the engagement based on the competencies and the PCC Markers. This will be different for each area of focus.
6. Challenges and Trends: Explore how to manage different challenges in coaching and plan how to stay current.
7. Coaching Debrief: Discuss insights, techniques, and approaches during coaching
8. Independent Learning and Reports: Prior to each webinar there is assigned reading from the Coaching Perspectives series. Following each webinar there are assignments designed for you to think and reflect, research and review, and enhance your learning.

Group Coaching:
Six group coaching sessions as scheduled for the class including one as coach and participating in the group.

Individual Coaching:
Submit your coach bio, review the compiled bios of classmates, submit your order of preference for interviewing, and then interview three classmates. Be interviewed by three classmates as a prospective coach. Schedule five individual sessions each as coach and as client with your partner and trainer as follows: one 30-minute session for co-creating the relationship, five 40-minute coaching sessions, and one 30-minute closing session. Listen to five recordings of your classmates coaching for your observations. Submit evaluations of your coach, yourself, and the coaches you observe via recording.

Final Report: Write about your coaching work

One-on-One Coaching Session: Schedule your one-on-one coaching session individually to review your progress with your coaching experience and strategize your efforts.
Learning Outcomes:
• List the competencies and strengths important to successful coaching.
• Define and self-assess the knowledge areas important to successful coaching.
• Explore the demonstration of coaching competencies through the PCC Markers.
• Explain the linkage between self-determination and decision-making.
• Co-create a best plan of action to formally engage in a coaching relationship.
• Co-explore and navigate with the client through a variety of prioritization processes and solutions.
• Understand self-management techniques to create long-term awareness and accountability with the client.
• Develop client’s ability to identify long term concerns and create strategies to sustain skills learned throughout the coaching process.
• Strengthen coaching competencies for helping clients in identifying and establishing solutions for long-term adherence and self-management.
• Create a plan for staying current as a coach.
• Explore the ICF Core Competencies, PCC Markers, and Specialist Strengths as they apply when coaching.
• Practice the Core Competencies and Strengths and demonstrate the PCC Markers in real time.

Coaching Experience
The Coaching Experience class focuses on application of the Core Competencies as a coach in group and individual coaching sessions.
Designed to provide focused practice coaching, the Coaching Experience class includes live participation in three 90-minute webinars plus full participation in individual and group coaching.
1. Review Core Competencies and Evaluation Overview
2. Group and Team Coaching: Explore definitions and application. Discuss processes and technologies.
3. Group Coaching Sessions 1 – 6 (90 minutes each) Plan on being the coach for one of the assigned group coaching classes. Outline the format of your group and how to use your technology. Anticipate 60 minutes outside of class for choosing a technology and planning for your group and 30 minutes coordinating with your trainer. Actively participate in the group coaching sessions.
4. Individual Coaching: 1-5 as Coach, Being Coached, Observing (60 minutes each) Plan to interview three classmates as prospective coach and to be interviewed by three classmates. When coaches are assigned plan to schedule five sessions as coach and five sessions as client. Plan to observe five sessions via recording. Update your coach bio for submission to the coaches in the group and email to your trainer. Review the bios of the coaches in the group and submit a list of everyone in your order of preference for coaches you want to interview. Interview 3 classmates (as assigned) as prospective coaches for 15 minutes each. Be interviewed by three classmates as a prospective coach for 15 minutes each. Submit a list of the 3 classmates interviewed in your order of preference for a coach. When you receive your assigned client, contact your client and using your trainer’s calendar schedule five 60-minute coaching sessions with your client and your trainer. Plan on scheduling the same series of five sessions as a client. Plan on observing the same series of five sessions via recording. Participate fully as coach and client, observe with focus, and submit the evaluations.
5. Coaching Debrief (90 minutes) Be prepared to share your learning from the coaching practicum and to ask questions.
Learning Outcomes:
• Review the Core Competencies.
• Differentiate between Group Coaching, Team Coaching, Facilitation, and Training.
• Plan for and coach a group session.
• Participate in group coaching and observe different formats.
• Experience using different technologies.
• Plan for and coach in keeping with the Code of Ethics and Core Competencies.

Mentor Coaching
Designed to create a laser-focus on your demonstration of coaching competencies, the Mentor Coaching includes a 360 Assessment on the Core Competencies with a self-assessment plus evaluations from 3 to 6 clients. Plan also to submit a recording of 20 to 60 minutes of you coaching a client along with the client’s permission to share with ICF and your Mentor Coach. The 10 hours of Mentor Coaching includes:
• Three individual sessions totaling 3 hours.
• One following completion of the 360 assessment with yourself and 3 to 4 clients
• One or two following submitting a recording of you coaching a client for 20 to 60 minutes
• The topic of the third session is open – it must focus on your coaching.
• Five 90-minute group sessions focused on discussing the coaching competencies and their application in your coaching work.
• Group 1: Introductions, Review the Group Coaching Format, Explore Ethics and Agreements in Coaching then Define Your Action Plan
• Group 2: Explore Co-Creating the Coaching Relationship then Define Your Action Plan
• Group 3: Explore Communication – Listening, Clear and Direct Language, and Powerful Questions then Define Your Action Plan
• Group 4: Explore Creating Awareness then Define Your Action Plan
• Group 5: Explore Challenges, Tools, and Techniques then Define Your Action Plan
Outcomes:
• Earn 10 hours of mentor coaching for ICF’s ACC, PCC, or MCC credential.
• Strengthen your ICF Core Competencies
• Build confidence
• Deepen active listening, rephrasing, and reflecting
• Enhance clear, direct communication
• Polish powerful questioning

The ICF has approved this program for 130 hours of ACSTH training plus 10 hours of Mentor Coaching. The Center for Coaching Certification is also accredited by IACET for 130 hours/13 CEUs (accepted by SHRM, HRCI, ATD, and more), plus accredited by AICI and PMI to offer 30 hours/3 CEUs for the CPC segment and by PMI for 35 hours/3.5 CEUs for the CMC segment.

COURSE OVERVIEW

Participants of this program will refine their coaching skills by coaching others and hearing others coach in a virtual classroom overseen and critiqued by an ICF certified professional coach. The environment fosters real-time learning for those doing the coaching and for those who will be listening and providing later feedback on what they saw and heard in the coaching.

The virtual course consists of eight classes held on Mondays from 12:30-2:00pm Eastern on August 10, 17, 24, 31, September 14, 21, 28 and October 5, 2020.

The complete Science & Art of Organisational Coaching (3 modules) takes an individual from understanding the science of coaching to the art of coaching and to them having a greater depth of coaching skill and presence with their coachees. The coach learns the shift from science to art as they develop deeper awareness and understanding of what it takes to be a great coach.

Each module builds on the skills and understanding obtained in the previous module(s). This complete programme is aimed at those individuals who wish to become external or internal coaches or who have coaching as a significant part of their role. The programme offers 76.25 hours of ICF Accredited Coach-Specific Training (ACSTH) and provides sufficient hours for the training element of an ICF ACC Credential application, should the individual wish to pursue that as part of their development.

Our innovative programs provide coach trainees with cutting-edge tools, structure, and support to guide their clients to assess and overcome the personal and interpersonal challenges that contribute to chronic stress, interpersonal drama, disassociation, dissatisfaction, apathy, and burn out. In this way, this holistic program improves on traditional ways of thinking about wellness, adding specific key components of mental, emotional, and relationship health. Our approach is unique in that it bridges the divide between researchers and clinicians.

Certification Requirements:

Each course offered by the HWH Institute of Holistic Wellness includes an online final comprehensive exam. To pass, students must pass the exam and complete all assignments with a 75% average or above and attend all live Zoom classes (you may make up to two missed classes per level by watching class videos and completing in-class assignments). In the event that a student is not able to pass one of the classes, s/he will need to retake the class and all subsequent levels within three years, or additional tuition will be due. Upon passing each coach training level, students will receive certificates of completion which may be submitted to the International Coach Federation and the American Council of Hypnotist Examiners as proof of training hours towards ICF and ACHE certification and/or continuing education requirements.

Practicum review, all assignments due, and comprehensive oral and written exam by August 20, 2021

Start with six live, interactive online classes:

Before and after each class you will write a one to two-page report responding to three questions.
• Group or Team Coaching: explore considerations for coaching groups or teams and prepare for your group coaching
• Ethics and Agreements: review the don’ts and the do’s for competencies 1 and 2, then explore application
• Coaching Process: discuss the don’ts and do’s for the competencies 3 and 4, then expand with how to tips for a coach
• People and Communication: consider the don’ts and do’s for competencies 5, 6, and 7, then confer on how to effectively use the techniques when coaching
• Creating Change with Confidence: explore the don’ts and do’s of competencies 8, 9, 10, and 11, then delve into application when coaching
• Time and Money: review tools and basic concepts plus talk about coaching on sensitive topics with specific examples for time and money coaching

Next is a Coaching Debrief: Review learning points and plan for your next steps as a coach

For the Coaching Practicum you will interview and be interviewed for coaching, coach, be coached, observe coaching, and coach the group plus participate in the coaching group.

For the final you will write a two-page report about your coaching with a client over viewing your approach, the results, and what you learned.

The ICF has approved this program for 30 hours of ACSTH. The Center for Coaching Certification is also accredited by IACET for 30 hours/3 CEUs (accepted by SHRM, HRCI, ATD, and more), plus accredited by AICI and PMI to offer 30 hours/3 CEUs.

After the Certified Professional Coach program, the next step is the Certified Master Coach program, approved for 35 hours, which means completing the training hour requirements for membership or the ACC credential. Mentor Coaching groups for the ACC requirement are scheduled regularly.

Coach Practitioner Program Overview

Designed as advanced training for coaches who are already members of the ICF, the Coach Practitioner program builds on the ICF’s Core Competencies with subject matter expertise based on the coaching niche of the participant.

***Choose your focus and Designation: Business, Career, Executive, Life, or Wellness Coach Practitioner. For Business Coach Practitioner, Career Coach Practitioner, Executive Coach Practitioner, Life Coach Practitioner, or Wellness Coach Practitioner designations: Coaches with the prerequisite of 60 hours or more of coach-specific training are invited to focus on your coaching niche while earning certification within your area of coaching.

Six live, interactive online classes for 90 minutes each followed by 30 minutes of independent learning:

1. Coach Competencies and Strengths: Review the ICF’s Core Competencies of a Coach and discuss the Strength Areas (a self-evaluation based on your area of focus is provided) for a Coach Practitioner; define the type of coaching and yourself as a coach; clarify roles

2. Engaging and Understanding Your Clients: Discuss approaches and examples for setting the foundation based on the competencies including establishing the agreement for the coaching session, establishing expectations, exploring the meaning for clients, determining the measurement of success, refining considerations, and creating quick wins. This will be different for each area of focus.

3. The Coaching Relationship: Explore how to co-create the relationship based on the competencies including different processes and plans, giving and earning trust, supporting and empowering the client, being fully aware and responsive, and expanding thinking while fully supporting the client in discussion and with examples. This will be different for each area of focus.

4. Client Priority Management: Analyze how your communication enhances your coaching based on the competencies, review examples for flexing to a client, evaluate how to be responsive, asking powerful questions, and integrate clear, direct language for coaching through class discussion and examples. This will be different for each area of focus.

5. The Client’s Future: Expand how you create awareness through exploration of examples for asking about insights, developing strategies and plans, defining client application, recognizing progress, and closing the engagement based on the competencies. This will be different for each area of focus.

6. Challenges and Trends: Explore how to manage different challenges in coaching and plan how to stay current.
Independent Learning: Following each webinar there are assignments designed for you to think and reflect, research and review, share insights and enhance your learning.

COURSE OVERVIEW

Participants learn the core coaching competencies taught to professional certified coaches throughout the world. Coaching demonstrations, case studies and engaging exercises ensure participants embed the concepts they are learning.

The virtual course consists of ten classes held on Thursdays from 12:30-2:00pm Eastern on October 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, November 5, 12, 19, December 3 and 10, 2020.
