ICF Minnesota Chapter: What if Everything You Need to Know About Sales You Learned in Coaching School? @ Metropolitan Ballroom

Event Date: Tuesday, August 27, 2019 – 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM (Central)

Speaker: Jason Jones

Event Description:

PROGRAM:
What if someone told you that everything you need to sell your services you learned in coaching school? A perception exists that sales is about getting in others’ space and convincing them of what they need. When in fact, selling isn’t about that at all. Coaches are uniquely trained to listen, tune into desires, and ask powerful questions—all highly desirable skills in making a sale. So why is it so hard for coaches to sell themselves? For many, the story they have been telling themselves has already defined what the sales conversation is and does. When that happens, we don’t book ourselves with as many clients and we limit the number of people who have access to the transformational process that takes place through coaching. In this workshop, we will reframe a sales conversation and discover how we can become empowering and supportive in a way that results in more prospects saying yes. The result is that every prospect comes away at choice and seeing how coaching can help them get there.

ICF Orange County - Mini Habits: A Small Tool for Big Success

Event Date: Tuesday, September 10, 2019 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Speaker’s Name: James Garrett

Habits are our brain’s go to tool to tackle almost any goal or task, which is why helping your clients get in the driver’s seat of their habit-making machinery can be a game changer. You’ll walk away with everything you need to help your clients know to start making measurable change.  Just like learning how to play the piano, learning how to form positive habits is a skill set.  You’ll discover:

• Why the key to knocking out habits is building them sequentially, not
simultaneously
• How to use proven methods like “habit stacking” and “habit tracking” to make or break any habit
• Why keeping your client motivated is easy with one small tweak
• How motivation often follows action, rather than preceding it
• How making your habits “stupid small” can be the game-changer you and your
coaching client have been looking for
Takeaways from this event include: *
Concrete strategies and habit-building systems that will de-mystify why habit-building and behavior change can be so hard, and how you can help your client overcome their internal obstacles.

A Place for Coaches to Engage

The 15th Annual Capital Coaches Conference (CCC) is the leading North American conference for coaches and allied professionals. The International Coach Federation (ICF) Metro DC Chapter, the CCC’s host and organizer, brings together more than 400 coaches, educators, and thought leaders, to explore change-making topics in the coaching profession.

The CCC will focus this year on social identities – our sense of who we each are based on the groups in which we place ourselves. We’ll explore how neuroscience and narratives may be critical to the formation of old and new habits of thinking, being, and doing – as coaches and/or clients, and as members of society-at-large. To help us enhance our coaching in the real world, we’re delighted to have as keynote speakers Laura Morgan Roberts, whose work research examines how leaders cultivate positive identities in diverse work organizations, and Amy Brann, who blends her academic knowledge of how the brain works with her experience of leaders’ challenges to share uniquely insightful ways forward. Their two keynotes will be supported by a curated collection of nearly 1 ½ dozen different focused workshops that dive deeper into our topics. More details on these workshops will be posted presently.

Coaching Connections

Renew your coaching network and learn alongside motivated and experience professionals.

Join us on this journey to grow with fellow colleagues, both as a coach and as a person.

ICF Germany - Coaching Corporate Millennials Through Stress Issues

Event Date: Thursday, September 23, 2019 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM

Speaker’s Name: Shiri Ben Azri

When we think about stress in the work place we usually think about dead-lines and assignments. We ignore the stress outside the office and by doing so we ignore the holistic nature of stress. According to AARP Public Policy, 25% of the millennials in the workforce today are caregivers caring for at least one family member. Being a caregiver effects a person’s physical, emotional and mental availability to keep up with work responsibilities. If you are coaching in a corporate environment it is likely that you are already coaching employees and/or executives struggling with additional chronic stress due to the challenges of balancing caregiving and work responsibilities. These issues hold a potential to sabotage the coaching by undermining the client’s ability to achieve goals as well as compromising the sustainability of the client’s achievements. In this webinar you will learn to to recognize, address and coach these issues.

Wednesday, September 25, 2019 11:00 AM

Speaker: Marcia Reynolds

Marcia Reynolds, Psyd, MCC, President of Covisioning LCC presents-
Going Deeper: How to Masterfully Coach the Person, Not Their Problem
Even experienced coaches fall into the trap of focusing on the problems that clients bring to their sessions. There might be fears of emotional reactions or discomfort with “challenging” the client. If you stay focused on these dilemmas, the coaching feels like it is going in circles because of the emotional attachment your clients have to their problems. In the end, your clients might find steps they are willing to take, but they don’t gain the new awareness that will help them avoid similar problems in the future.
This session will help you shift from problem solving to coaching the human in front of you. You will: identify your coaching fears and remove fear and judgment to stay present; discover new applications of the coaching competencies focusing on reflection as well as inquiry, and learn three ways to prepare your mind for coaching. These practices will expand how your clients think about their dilemmas, creating more breakthrough experiences. You will rapidly advance your mastery of coaching.

ICF Germany - Why Am I Paying You?

Event Date: Thursday, September 26, 2019 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM

Why am I paying you? – An inquisitive webinar about the inherent tension of our trade.

Has a (potential) client ever asked you this question:” Why am I paying you”? Which client’s emotion/s could you sense? Was it probably curiosity, frustration (being stuck in own problem state), anger (for not being consulted) or another reaction?

How did you feel being asked this question? What was your (first) reaction? And which kind of definition of coaching were you able to provide your client to explain the potential professional coaching might offer the client?

Coaching as a profession is considered, throughout the world as somewhat of an enigma.
When do you seek the help of a coach? Isn’t a coach basically a less educated psychotherapist? What is coaching’s ROI and how can I measure it? And if she/he doesn’t offer me advice or solutions, why should I hire him?

It is time to start demystifying coaching and the answers should be coming from us.

Let us approach these important questions with an explorative and interactive LAB Format (with breakout sessions)

Rony’s vast experience as a former film director sharpened his talent for cultivating a creative space for his clients to play out their personal and professional narratives and form a deeper understanding of who they are and how they wish to present themselves in the world.

Coaching Presence is the foundational core competency of effective coaching. From here, something new is possible. In this webinar Sharon Barbour and Toral Livingston-Jha will explore the nature of personal and relational presence as well as guide participants through presence cultivating/deepening exercises.

Speaker’s Name: Tina Ruseva

We are at a turning point in the global economy where rapid technological change not only disrupts our lives but also sets us free from the routine aspects of starting and sustaining businesses. But most founders still focus on efficiency, instead on the effect of their new ventures. But in the future of AI and Fourth Industrial Revolution efficiency is a given. The time has come to shift the focus from doing things right to doing the right things. In this presentation I will present the theses from my book Big Heart Ventures that explains how businesses can be a primary force for social well-being while also being profitable. I will present “HEART”, my proprietary framework for coaching entrepreneurs for purpose-driven entrepreneurship. It is a summary of coaching methods particularly targeting emerging entrepreneurs with the goal to have impact in their communities.

As a technology entrepreneurship evangelist Tina lives and breaths software startups. After finishing her degree in Computer Science and Journalism she traded her job for a bluechip company, to pursue a career as a tech startup founder and CEO. Ever since she has devoted her work to innovation, especially at the interface between the corporate and startup worlds, creating startup programs for Allianz, Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, and WERK1. Eversince she has coached entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs to master change on market, organizational and personal level. She loves working with founders who leverage technology to create the world of tomorrow – on purpose. Her favorite topics are: digital ethics, purpose, startups. Her hobbies: coaching (CTI Co-Active), speaking, and writing.

Benefits for participants:
learn about the needs of a rising coaching customer segment of purpose-driven entrepreneurs
learn about a new coaching framework that helps founders identify their core-values
hear 9 examples why purpose is not only the right thing to do but also the secret sauce of success
expand your knowledge about entrepreneurship and startups through a real expert

Event Description:

PROGRAM:

As a coach, determining if one should be incorporating assessments into their work with clients can be overwhelming. Not only that, but if you decide to use them, where do you even begin? If the assessment quandary sounds familiar to you, you won’t want to miss this webinar. You will hear from three coaches who have been trained in and utilize three different assessment tools—The Enneagram, StrengthsFinder, and Insights. We will spend 90-minutes introducing you to these three tools, how they can be used, pros and cons, cost, and ease of use.

Assessments we’ll review:

The Enneagram (meaning Ennea=9, Gram=Diagram) is a tool for self-awareness and personal growth based on 9 basic types and can identify how clients see and show up in the world based on their inner motivations

The StrengthsFinder assessment measures your natural patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving, so when you’re done with the assessment, you’ll have discovered your talents and can build from there.

The INSIGHT Inventory personality assessment helps people identify and utilize their strengths and eliminate the triggers and stress reactions that derail success.

ICF Core Competencies Addressed:

Co-creating the Relationship — Establishing Trust and Intimacy with the Client, Coaching Presence

Communicating Effectively — Active Listening

Facilitating Learning and Results — Creating Awareness, and Designing Actions

Objectives:

To provide insight, into three assessment tools to assist coaches in determining best fits for their practice.

ICF Georgia - Mindsight in coaching: How to integrate Interpersonal neurobiology with the art of coaching

Event Date: Wednesday, November 13, 2019 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Speaker Name: Daniel Siegel

Dr. Daniel J. Siegel, Executive Director of Mindsight Institute presents: Mindsight in coaching: How to integrate Interpersonal neurobiology with the art of coaching.

In this presentation coaches will learn the foundational principles of interpersonal neurobiology, an interdisciplinary way of understanding the mind and mental health. When we address three fundamental questions—what is mind? What is a healthy mind? What can we do to cultivate a healthy mind in ourselves and others? We come to some basic ways of approaching how coaches can support the individuals, groups, and systems that are focal point of their work. One of these core notions is a process called “mindsight” which enables us to sense the mind of self and other with more clarity and depth. It also enables us to cultivate integration in our lives by linking of differentiated components of a system to one another. Integration is appearing to be the core mechanism underlying well-being in individuals, families and larger groups. Integration is not only health, but also kindness and compassion are visibly important. We will focus on how coaches can learn and apply these mindsight principles in their everyday lives and work.

Learning Outcomes:
1. Explore how to develop a healthy mind and empathic relationships, which are at the heart of emotional and social intelligence
2. Help clients build mindsight—seeing the mind of self and other and promoting integration
3. Apply principles of IPNB to the field of coaching
